Direct Action Sererit
Kuomba si mbaya, Kupata ni ngumu.
It costs nothing to ask, it's obtaining that is difficult.
Direct Action Sererit
is a non-profit humanitarian association with no religious or political affiliations.
Our objective is to support the kids of Sererit and their access to education.
Our action is direct, without intermediaries and with no hidden costs.
The Samburu
is a community of semi-nomadic pastorlists who share common roots with the Masai.
They live mainly in the Samburu County in the heart of Kenya's Great Rift Valley.
Mission SERERIT
Father Aldo Giuliani, a missionary in Kenya since 1968, wanted to be able to provide medical care to the Samburus living furthest away from the existing centres.
In 2000 he decided to build a new mission at the foot of the Ndoto Mountains - the Dream Mountains (more than 11 hours of roads and tracks north of Nairobi).
Sererit (flowing stream) is the name of the "river" running below the mission.
Today Direct Action Sererit focuses on children and their access to education.
According to the latest available surveys, Ndoto District has
a population of approximately 14,900 people over an area of nearly 1,800 km².
Half are under 15 years old.
Only 40% of children aged 6 to 13 attend school,
and only 8% for those aged 14 to 17 !
